THE Braxton family is set to return to TV with Braxton Family Values and sisters Towanda and Trina have opened up about why they decided to return to the small screen after six years.
In an exclusive interview with The U.S. Sun, Towanda, 50, and Trina, 49, explained they wanted to tell “important” stories about what the family has gone through in recent years, including the death of their sister Traci after a cancer battle in 2022, and their sister Tamar’s mental health journey following a suicide attempt in 2020.

“You’re going to see never before seen pictures and video of when she was sick and when she was transitioning. And we just thought it was important to show our fans as well, because our fans have gone through the journey with us with Tracy.
“It was a loss for us, but it was a loss for our fans as well,” Towanda explained before adding, “she fought a great fight.”
“Traci definitely wanted us to come together to do this show, and one of the great things about that is that we also have included her son in the series this season.”

Traci’s son, Kevin Surratt Jr., announced his mother had died in a beautiful tribute on Instagram.
“Tracy just didn’t want to be forgotten, and we’re always going to make sure that her legacy lives on.”
Trina echoed those sentiments and added, “Traci definitely wanted us to come together to do this show, and we also have included her son in this season of the series.
“Being the Traci that she is, she just didn’t want to be forgotten and wanted to make sure her legacy lives on.”

Meanwhile, sister Tamar will also open up about her own mental health struggles following a suicide attempt in 2020.
TAMAR’S MENTAL HEALTH JOURNEY
Towanda said that the Unbreak My Heart singer, 47, will discuss her mental health journey.
She explained, “You’re definitely going to be able to hear Tamar’s story out of her own mouth and how she feels about things. And I think that that’s important too. That’s an important story to tell.
“And especially since Traci’s transitioning, we all have emerged and grown in some, some way.”
TAMAR’S BRAVE MENTAL HEALTH FIGHT
Tamar Braxton will open up about her mental health journey on Braxton Family Values
In 2020, Tamar attempted to take her own life.
She later opened up that the trauma of being molested has “manifested in different ways.”
The star told People in 2021 that she works towards better mental health and being the best mom she can be for her son, Logan.
The star said she is working to help break the stigma of mental illness.
“I have a responsibility,” she said. “I chose to live my life out loud; I have to do the work because people are watching me.”
Towanda said she will also be sharing exciting news about her recent engagement to songwriter Sean Hall.
TOWANDA’S BIG NEWS
“I can’t wait for everybody to see how everything unfolds on the show, because it’s a journey, and I’m just really excited about this new season for The Braxtons.”
As for if fans can get excited to get a peak at the proposal, Towanda said “You’re gonna see it all!”
“And it’s just amazing. It’s just amazing. I’m so super duper excited for everybody to see this journey. It’s a new journey, new beginnings,” Towanda added.
And, fans can even expect some new music to come out around this new season as well.
“I know that Tamar had some new music coming out for this particular season. I know Toni’s working on some new music. We haven’t collectively decided on if we were going to do something together moving forward.”
Toni Braxton, 56, is currently doing a residency in Las Vegas with Cedric the Entertainer.

“It’s bittersweet, because Traci’s no longer here with us, and we definitely miss her tone and voice. So we don’t know, maybe in the near future, maybe in another season, possibly,” Towanda added.
