Offset staged an apparent attempt at reconciliation during Cardi B’s performance at the Rolling Loud Festival in Los Angeles on Saturday night, and accidentally illustrated once and for all the importance of privacy in all matters of the heart. The Migos member, arriving midway through Cardi’s set, interrupted the performer with his own scene, rolling out a large display of roses and baked goods, the latter of which spelled out “Take Me Back, Cardi.” (Last week, Cardi had announced their split in a now-deleted Instagram post, writing, “We got a lot of love for each other, but things haven’t been working out between us for a long time.”)

Earlier on Saturday, Offset, who just celebrated his 27th birthday, shared an emotional video on Instagram: “I only got one birthday wish and that’s to get my wife back Cardi,” he said. “We’re going through a lot of things right now, a lot of things in the media. I want to apologize to you Cardi. I embarrassed you. I made you go crazy.”

Saturday night’s gesture, though certainly outsized, seemed poorly conceived for someone attempting to demonstrate personal growth. As many fans pointed out, Offset turned up to literally steal the spotlight while Cardi was on stage; after some heated exchanges off-mic, Cardi B had both Offset and his over-the-top arrangements removed.
