Caitlin Clark and Connor McCaffery have not forgotten their time in college. Although the popular couple is already fully embarked on their respective professional careers, any excuse is good to celebrate with old friends, even if it is just a funny social media post inspired by LeBron James.

Clark left college just this year to begin her career in the WNBA. Now wearing the Indiana Fever uniform, the guard is one of the most popular athletes in the United States. She was named Rookie of the Year and everyone expects great things from her in the years to come.

After graduating from the University of Iowa in 2023, McCaffery landed a job as an assistant coach for the Indiana Pacers. In September 2024 he joined the coaching staff at Butler University, where he ran into an old friend, and they were soon celebrating old times in a very unique way.

Inspired by LeBron James

Izaya Ono-Fullard, former Iowa baseball player and friend of Clark and McCaffery, attended a Butler Bulldogs basketball game this weekend, where he ran into Connor and his brother, Patrick McCaffery.

To celebrate the occasion, Ono-Fullard posted a photo with the McCafferys, captioning it “Iguodala to Curry, back to Iguodala, up for the layup! Oh! Blocked by James! LeBron James with the rejection!” recalling the legendary block that the “King” put on Iguodala eight years ago.

The couple was quick to react to their friend’s post. “Caption goes crazy,” McCaffery responded to the post on Instagram. Clark just responded “Hard,” perhaps a little short on words, but summing up all the emotion contained in Ono-Fullard’s message.

Where is the couple now?

McCaffery is starting the 2024-2025 NCAA season with the Bulldogs, hoping to excel in the tough Big East division. Clark, for her part, is making the most of the WNBA offseason and perhaps considering joining the 3×3 Unrivaled basketball league.

In the meantime, both are enjoying their relationship and reunions with old friends.
