Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is expected to miss several games after it was reported that his hamstring injury is worse than first feared.
Prescott signed a four-year, $240million contract back in September but the quarterback now faces ‘multiple weeks’ on the sidelines, according to NFL Network.
The 31-year-old suffered the injury in Dallas’ loss by the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, when the Cowboys were beaten 27-21.
After the game, Prescott insisted ‘it’ll take a lot for me not to be out there (next week)’ but the quarterback admitted he ‘felt something pull… something I’ve never felt.’
Cooper Rush is the backup slated to replace Prescott under center, starting against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

Following the loss to Atlanta, Mike McCarthy’s team sit third in the NFC East after a 3-5 start to the season.
Prescott also appeared to suffer an injury to his right hand at the end of the third quarter of the game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The quarterback completed 18 of 24 passes for 133 yards and one touchdown against Atlanta. Prescott also had three carries for 30 yards.
After the game, Cowboys Jerry Jones conceded he was worried by the hamstring problem.
‘It concerned me when I saw the play, when I saw him have a reaction and any weakness that he might have had there. We just have to take a look at that,’ Jones said.
Rush replaced Prescott against the Falcons, leading the Cowboys on a 14-play, 86-yard drive which resulted in a touchdown.
‘I’ll be very candid with you, we’ve got to give Rush a little positive here, not a little. He came in there and I am proud of him. I thought he played well,’ Jones said.
