Reid, 66, has now made the decision to add former Patriots ace Tyquan Thornton to his squad.
The wide receiver was released by the Patriots despite being a second-round pick back in 2020.
It is believed that the side was open to dealing Thornton before the 2024 NFL trade deadline.
But there were no takers for the star at the time.
When Thornton was first drafted in by the Patriots, there was plenty of excitement surrounding him.
Bill Belichick and Matt Groh opted to pick him ahead of George Pickens, who has been impressive at the Pittsburgh Steelers.
It has now been claimed that the Chiefs have made their move to bring in the free agent.
On Monday, he joined up with the practice squad as reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Thornton struggled with injury at the Patriots, as blows ended his first two training camps.
He also proved inconsistent in making plays and catches when he was fit enough to play in his two-and-a-half seasons.
In his 28 games, he racked up just 39 receptions for 395 yards and two touchdowns.
There was hope that he could improve this year after impressing in the summer.
But he only managed to catch two passes in the Week 1 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
The following week versus the Seattle Seahawks, he was not targeted at all.
This started to show that his involvement became less and less as he only had one pass come his way in Weeks 3 and 4.
And in Week 5, he was only featured in one offensive snap.
