Patrick Mahomes has issued a challenge to Kansas City Chiefs teammate Travis Kelce amid the tight end’s early-season slump.
Kelce is not playing his best football at the moment, although the Chiefs aren’t worse off for it as they have been winning games, but fans are beginning to worry that he might be past it.
Mahomes, meanwhile, continues to shine in his position under center. And, this Friday, he laid out a challenge to his favorite teammate that has nothing to do with football.
The quarterback came across a tweet showing him and Kelce in their college days, with their former schools – Cincinnati and Texas Tech – set to play each other as conference opponents for the first time on Saturday. He told Kelce he would revert to the hairstyles shown in the photos but dared the TE to go first.
I’ll bring the hair back if you do too! @tkelce https://t.co/vQ4Eh9xM6A

“respectfully…..don’t do it,” one advised.
“Please don’t,” another begged.
“No!!!! We like Kelce’s hair!!! We like your hair the way you have it now @PatrickMahomes. Don’t touch the hair!!!!!” someone else ordered.
“Patrick that would be bad luck, keep the championship hair 💪,” a user added.
“Don’t you dare🤣,” someone laughed.
Patrick Mahomes Explains Why Travis Kelce Has Been Playing So Badly This Season
Meanwhile, Mahomes has attempted to explain why the game has been so difficult for Kelce this season.
“Yeah, it’s crazy because teams still — the respect factor they have for Travis is just unreal,” he said, via ProFootballTalk. “It’s well-deserved, but we’re calling a lot of plays for Travis, and it’s like two or three people are going to him. So, I mean, he understands.
“I think that’s the great thing about him is he wants to make an impact on the game, but he wants to win at the end of the day.”
