Jerry Jones has been recognized as one of the best businessmen to have come to the NFL, for his ability to multiply the business and take the league’s profits to the next level. It is no wonder that the Dallas Cowboys are recognized year after year as the most valuable team in the world, even though they are about to celebrate 30 years without winning a title.
However, the size of his ego, which could surpass that of his majestic crystal palace where his team plays, has caused countless problems, due to his inability to give the limelight to his team. His statements or decisions have been a key factor in the partial successes achieved by the team.
This combination of factors seems to have upset the loyal Cowboys fans, who year after year support the team, to the point of making it the most popular team in the league, both in the United States and in Mexico. This was evident on Monday in the Monday Night Football when for the first time in history, the Cowboys’ stadium suffered an invasion of fans of the Houston Texans, who for the first time won a game on tour. But also, the stands showed significant gaps of fans of the ‘Lone Star’.
“Houston is close to Dallas, so the fact that we often have visiting teams buying tickets that are in our stadium is not uncommon,” Jones said after the game, justifying this peculiar situation. “It’s also not uncommon to see our fans sell tickets for specific games. Many times, that’s done well before the season starts,” he added.
However, so far this year, the trend has been consistent. Fans are genuinely tired of supporting a team that can’t win at important moments. For their game next Thursday, on the traditional Thanksgiving Day against the New York Giants, ticket prices have dropped considerably due to low demand.
According to the official resale site, SeatGeek, there are tickets available at prices similar to those of a regular season MLB game, near midfield, considered the best to watch the game, at prices starting at $53 and ranging from $50 to $80.
The difference is abysmal. In August 2018, the El Paso Times reported that before the start of that season, tickets for the Thanksgiving Day game in similar situations ranged from $1,000 to $1,300:
“Tickets for more popular games, such as Dallas’ Thanksgiving game, will cost fans between $1,000 and $1,300 for seats near the field, while sections toward the end of the stadium cost an average of about $250.”
By next Thursday, tickets near the field are not more than $1,000, and there are even tickets available right behind the Cowboys sideline for about half that price.
Even the prices mentioned above seem to be too high for many Cowboys fans on social media, as some fans have complained about the team’s poor form and how little they have shown in 2024, losing all five games they have played at home by a landslide:

“Imagine skipping Thanksgiving dinner and paying real dollars to watch (Tommy DeVito) Cutlets against (hopefully) Trey Lance,” one fan criticized.
“The only way to demonstrate leadership is to change,” said another. “Yes, this year I’m not going. I’m not selling either. There will be empty seats,” warned a third.
