PATRICK MAHOMES insists his Kansas City Chiefs team need to “keep getting better” and admits they “didn’t do well enough” offensively in their win over Denver Broncos.

The Chiefs trailed 14-13 going into the final quarter but turned things around late on to claim a 16-14 victory.

They blocked a field goal attempt with just one second remaining to clinch the win in a dramatic finale.

And Mahomes was honest in his assessment of their performance – while he also hailed blocking the last-gasp field goal as a “special moment”.

Speaking to CBS after the game, the NFL superstar said: “It just speaks to this entire team.

“Obviously, offensively we didn’t do well enough. I missed that throw in the fourth quarter to help us get the lead.

“Defensively they stepped it up in the second half, and the special teams. We’re a full team. It’s everybody and that was a special moment.

“It took everybody and we found a way in the end.

“It’s a team. Everybody believes, no one has any doubts. We just keep pushing and find a way in the end.”

Next up for the Chiefs is a clash with the Buffalo Bills – who claimed a fifth successive win with a 30-20 victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.

And Mahomes is aware his team need to improve if they are to maintain their winning record.

He added: “We got to keep getting better. Obviously we’re going to go back and watch this, try to learn from it.
