LeBron James, the Los Angeles Lakers star, is set to begin his 22nd NBA season in a few days. This season will be unique as his son Bronny James will be joining him in the lineup. The Lakers drafted Bronny in the second round of the 2024 NBA draft. As the upcoming season approaches, the James duo has already been captivating their supporters with their playful banter, delighting fans when they were recently observed trolling each other.
During the practice game, James drove past Bronny along the baseline for a reverse layup, scoring over his son. Afterward, they exchanged words, which Rob Pelinka described as “more challenging than anything else” during a recent interview. Additionally, James posted about the practice session on his Instagram story, where he mentioned “Great Defense. Better O.”
During Lakers media day, Spectrum SportsNet desk reporter Allie Clifton asked Bronny about the incident. In response, James’ son claimed that he reviewed the clip and said that LeBron stepped out of bounds.
LeBron James: “What do you mean you’re not going to go there right now? You just went there!”
Bronny: “I mean, I know you did.”
LeBron: “I stepped out of bounds?”
Bronny: “You did. You stepped out of bounds. I got the stop.”
LeBron: “They don’t even have that camera angle of the baseline like that!”
After the humorous conversation, LeBron James concluded by reminding Bronny that he is still a rookie.
James Described It as a ‘Pure Joy’ to Play Alongside His Son
James and Bronny will become the first father-son duo to play at the same time in NBA history. This has sparked excitement among fans, who are eagerly waiting to witness the moment. Meanwhile, the all-time points leader has also expressed his excitement for the upcoming season. During the Lakers media day interview, James expressed how much he enjoys playing alongside his son, describing it as pure joy.
“It’s a lot of excitement. It’s just pure joy, to be honest. To be able to come to work every day, put in the work, put in hard work with your son every day, and to be able to see him grow,” James said during the interview on Media Day.
The upcoming NBA season will begin in a few days. The Lakers’ first preseason game will be against the Minnesota Timberwolves. It will be fascinating to witness how the father-son duo will perform together.
