During Sofia’s appearance on Live With Kelly and Mark on Friday, the actress talked about reuniting with her Modern Family cast members.

The whole cast, plus co-creators Christopher Lloyd and Steven Levitan was there, except for Ty Burrell, who played Phil Dunphy on the sitcom.

The hosts asked where Ty was since only a photo of his head was in the photo, posted by Sofia on Instagram.

When the picture was shown on the daytime talk show, Sofia said, “It looks like Ty passed away.”

Modern Family’s Jesse Tyler Ferguson sparks ‘reboot’ rumors with a photo

Kelly Ripa, Mark Consuelos, and the entire audience burst out laughing at Sofia’s confession.

Ty, however, has not died, and Sofia, 51, revealed where he was.

She said that he had surgery and was recovering from it, and he doesn’t live in Los Angeles, so he couldn’t make it.

“Something happened to him, because he lives in Deer Valley or somewhere. He had a surgery, an accident, so he didn’t show up,” Sofia revealed.

“He didn’t show up, but we had a picture of him, so it’s okay.”

The reunion took place in November 2023.

A DELAYED REUNION

Sofia revealed that two weeks after they finished filming the final episodes, the Covid-19 pandemic hit, so they didn’t get to see each other for years.

The costars got to see each other five days a week for 11 years when they were on the set of the sitcom.

“Those of us who lived in LA, we would see each other at a park or a birthday party, but we had never been able to be all together,” Sofia said.

“And we finally did it, and it was more than three years, almost four years after we finished. It was very emotional.”

MEAN FAMILY?

A few of the Modern Family cast members reunited in a new commercial.

Ty, Julie Bowen, 54, and Eric Stonestreet, 52, appeared in a new WhatsApp ads earlier this month.

It depicted the three of them in their show characters, sitting on the couch with their eyes glued to their phones.

Eric, who played Cameron Tucker, gushed to Ty, and Julie, who played Claire Dunphy, about a new photo of his twins that he would share with them.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who played Mitchell Pritchett, then walked into the room, asking to see the photo, but Phil told him it was in their group chat, to which Claire and Cameron nervously glared at him for revealing their private chat.

Mitchell immediately went to search for the photo, but quickly realized it was not in the group chat was he is a part of.

“You started a family chat without me? Shame!” he yelled, pointing at the guilty trio.

However, the trio said that Mitchell had an older phone and the features on it made them not include him.

A man outside painting the home shouted through the window that chatting via WhatsApp would solve the family’s issue.

The commercial ended with Cameron and Mitchell lying in bed, gleefully scrolling through their new chat on WhatsApp.

“This is fun. I still can’t believe you cut me out,” Mitchell told his husband.
