Fujitora’s potential connection with Shimotsuki Ryuma, Zoro’s ancestor, might just open a world of possibilities in the One Piece verse.

SUMMARY

Fujitora has gotten himself a sturdy fan base despite his limited screen time in One Piece.
A One Piece fan theory explains the connection between Shimotsuki Ryuma and Fujitora.
One Piece fans voice their opinion on the theory, linking Issho and Ryuma.

Introduced for the first time in the Dressrosa Arc, Fujitora quickly rose to the rank of becoming one of the most popular characters in Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece. The noble, kind action embedded with a noble sense of justice has made him stand out from the typical admirals and marines that are shown in the series. After all, he grew up in the war-torn land of the Blue Kingdom, making him much more responsible for his actions.

He trained himself from a young age to be a master swordsman, becoming the pirates’ worst nightmare. Thus, making him extremely skilled with his shikomizue. However, it turns out his sword skills are not only due to his training because in concept art, an intriguing detail has come out and fans have already come out with a new theory surrounding him and a god.

In Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece, Issho, also known as Admiral Fujitiora, is one of the few characters who challenges the notion that “Marines are just brutes working for the government.” While the viewers and readers have seen how ambiguous the Marines can be, the Blind Admiral would showcase an unparalleled clarity of judgment.

Issho had witnessed the cruelty of the world since he was a child, growing up in the Blue Kingdom and training to be the next swordsman prodigy. He worked his way up the ranks over the years, eventually becoming well-known in the OP verse.

Now, in an interesting turn of events, it turns out he has ties with Shimotsuki Ryuma. Recently, an anime enthusiast (@tamirsverse) uploaded a YouTube Short about his past. They gave a brief overview of his past and how very little is known about the Defense Admiral of the Blue Kingdom until now.

The influencer shared a concept art of the character drawn by Oda-Sensei. They pointed out a major detail that makes him connected to Shimotsuki Ryuma, the legendary swordsman of the Wano Kingdom, who also happens to be an ancestor of Roronoa Zoro. The legendary figure is regarded as the greatest swordsman, and he lived to tell the story of how he slew the dragon and became The Sword God in Wano’s Golden Era.

Even though he existed a century before the current storyline, the influencer believes that a young Fujitora wearing a similar robe to Ryuma might have a “connection between the Blue Kingdom and Wano.” Though it is not confirmed in the current series or Oda-Sensei, the community was summoned to the video’s comment section and gave their view on the theory.

One Piece fans have their say on the Fujitora-Ryuma connection

The fan theory by the influencer has got the One Piece community talking, where they were intrigued by the notion of how the two might be connected with each other. However, that’s not the only case because some have come up with their own theories, which makes this thought all the more exciting.

Nonetheless, the theory sounds intriguing, given what we have seen him capable of, particularly when he combines his sword skills with his Paramecia Devil Fruit, Zushi Zushi no Mi. Furthermore, fans eagerly await the day when Oda-Sensei decides to reveal the Admiral’s backstory, which compelled him to take away his eyesight.
