LeBron James Support to Simone Biles Adds Fire to Donald Trump’s “Black” Man Feud

History walks to the elegant steps of Simone Biles. The 27-year-old renowned gymnast made history at the Paris Olympics 2024. Clinching a sixth career Olympic medal, Biles became the oldest woman in the sport’s history to bag gold honors for the all-around competition. It came eight years after she first achieved the gold finish. The win was used as a means to fight Donald Trump’s recent claims. And now, LeBron James has joined the fight.
It all stemmed from Donald Trump’s comments about ‘Black Jobs’ during his June debate beside former POTUS candidate Joe Biden. His remarks onset a wave of backlash toward him. And after Biles’ gold conquest, singer Ricky Davila was the first to throw a jab. “Simone Biles being the GOAT, winning Gold medals and dominating gymnastics is her black job,” the singer wrote on X. Biles replied with “I love my black job” as a direct response to Trump’s controversial comments.
Here is where LeBron James comes in. Responding to Biles, he sent his love and support to Biles. He attached a goat emoticon to go with a black heart, showing his allegiance to Biles and his stand against the presidential nominee Donald Trump.
Not the first time LeBron James and Donald Trump have stood on opposing ends
Biles might have just started her war against Donald Trump. However, James and the former POTUS have clashed on several occasions. It majorly began in 2017, when Stephen Curry dismissed the idea of visiting the White House during Trump’s presidency. In reply, the then-president revoked their invitations, which led to a scathing attack from the King.
“U bum @StephenCurry30 already said he ain’t going! So therefore ain’t no invite. Going to White House was a great honor until you showed up!” he said in support of his eternal NBA rival.
From that moment, Donald Trump and James began to back and forth. On several occasions, Trump confessed to liking Michael Jordan better than the Akron Hammer. The 78-year-old also called James a “hater” of his campaign while taking digs at his I Promise venture. In 2020, during the Orlando bubble, James publicly declared his support for Biden and Kamala Harris during the elections and it seems he remains unmoved from his past stance.
It’s a rift that began years ago, the tensions of which still remain everpresent
