In his rookie year, Victor Wembanyama proved the worth of being the No. 1 overall pick by the San Antonio Spurs. Despite his incredible performance, which earned him the Rookie of the Year award, he couldn’t lead his team to the NBA title last season. However, Wembanyama’s talent and potential have ignited high expectations among fans and former players.

Former NBA star Kendrick Perkins has also possessed high expectations from the Spurs star. Perkins recently shared a bold claim that Wembanyama would end up winning three NBA titles.

“I believe [Victor Wembanyama] will win three championships when it’s all said and done. It’s not gonna be easy though, right? He’s still gonna share the league with Jayson Tatum, Anthony Edwards, Ja Morant, and these young bulls,” Perkins said.

Wembanyama’s arrival has rejuvenated the Spurs fanbase, reminding many of the team’s glorious past. Since 1999, the Spurs have secured five NBA titles, with their last championship win in 2014. The organization has a storied history of developing young talent and fostering a winning culture, and now it’s Wembanyama’s turn to contribute to this legacy.

Victor Wembanyama’s Rookie Season Performance

Under Victor Wembanyama’s guidance, the Spurs finished last season with a 22-60 record.

In his rookie season, Wembanyama averaged 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.2 steals, and 3.6 blocks per contest. The young star, who recently let his fans laugh with a hilarious photoshoot, shot 46.5% from the field and 32.5% from the three-point range in 71 games.

Standing at an imposing 7’4″, Wembanyama’s ability to shoot, pass, and defend makes him a unique asset in today’s NBA. The journey to an NBA title is long and arduous, but with Wembanyama leading the charge, the Spurs could be on the brink of another golden era.
