ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported Thursday that wideout Marquise Brown will be activated for Saturday’s game against the Houston Texans.

The report stated that the 27-year-old will play in the game “assuming everything continues trending positively this week.”

Brown has yet to play a game this campaign due to a shoulder injury.

During an August preseason game, he suffered a sternoclavicular shoulder joint injury which required surgery.

The Kansas City Chiefs also lost star Rashee Rice for the season after just four games due to a knee injury.

Still, the Chiefs have been able to weather the storm and can land the AFC’s No. 1 seed which would give them a first-round bye plus home-field advantage.

After suffering the injury in August, Brown initially was expected to miss the regular season after being placed on injured reserve but potentially return in the postseason.

After the successful surgery, the 2019 first-round pick rehabbed and later made claims about making a late-season debut.

Then, last week, the Chiefs brought Brown back from the injured reserve list and opened up a 21-day practice window which lets the team evaluate the wideout without having him on the 53-man roster.

Brown’s activation would help open up routes for Travis Kelce, trade deadline addition DeAndre Hopkins, and others.

He can also work alongside rookie Xavier Worthy, who leads the team’s wide receivers with 494 receiving yards this season.

Brown previously played for the Baltimore Ravens and Arizona Cardinals.

His career season came in 2021 when he posted 91 receptions for 1,008 receiving yards and six touchdowns.

Before this season, Brown recorded 700 or more receiving yards in three straight seasons.

The Chiefs will be eyeing to be the first team in NFL history to win three straight Super Bowl titles.

Health is the main priority at the moment for the Chiefs, however, as Patrick Mahomes suffered a mild high-ankle sprain in the team’s Week 15 win over the Cleveland Browns.

Fortunately, the two-time NFL MVP has fully participated in practice this week and Reid told reporters that the 29-year-old will start in Week 16.

The Chiefs are in the middle of schedule chaos as they have the brutal task of playing three games in 10 days.

After their Browns victory on December 15, they will host the Texans on Saturday, and then take on the Pittsburgh Steelers on Christmas Day.

The Chiefs’ season-finale game will be against the Denver Broncos on Sunday, January 5.
