Sanji’s Observation Haki is Overrated But Oda Has Made It Clear That It’s Stronger Than Zoro’s Haki

Vinsmoke Sanji might be a better Observation Haki user than Roronoa Zoro in One Piece but his Observation Haki skills feels a little overrated.

SUMMARY

One Piece fans have always compared Zoro and Sanji as both of them are extremely strong.

While Zoro may excel in a lot of things, the one aspect where he can’t beat Sanji is Observation Haki.
However, Sanji’s Observation Haki has started to feel a little overrated.

The Monster Trio of the Straw Hat Pirates in One Piece has proved itself to be the ultimate portrayal of strength and power. This Monster Trio is comprised of Monkey D. Luffy and his wings, Roronoa Zoro, and Vinsmoke Sanji. They are the strongest members of the Straw Hat Pirates, and they have proved it time and time again.

While all three of them have unprecedented strength and are masters of their own specific abilities, fans have mostly compared Zoro and Sanji’s abilities because of their rivalry. Both of them have very distinctive fighting styles, as one uses swords and another uses his legs, but the one thing that is common between the strength of the two Straw Hat Pirates is Haki.

When compared, Zoro might come out on top because he has all three kinds of Haki, while Sanji only has Observation and Armament. However, Sanji’s Observation Haki might be better than Zoro’s, and Eiichiro Oda has proved it multiple times in One Piece.

Sanji’s Observation Haki is Better Than Zoro’s

Ever since One Piece started, fans have been divided into two different groups: one who loves Sanji and the other who loves Zoro. These two groups have always debated the strengths and abilities of the two One Piece characters and compared them to figure out who is the better one. While Zoro may excel in most of the aspects that measure power, Sanji dominates Zoro in the Observation Haki department.

While Zoro may be the first one out of the two to use Haki, Sanji has proved himself to be a better Observation Haki user than Zoro. During the time skip, Sanji specially trained his Observation Haki to sense the presence, strength, emotions, and intent of others. His perfection in standard Observation Haki is reflected in the fact that he was the first one in One Piece to sense Luffy’s Gear 5.

Not only that, his Observation Haki works overtime in the case of women, as he can hear a woman in pain and suffering from miles away. This is a feat that even Luffy was unable to perform, thus proving that Sanji’s base Observation Haki might be even better than Luffy’s in One Piece.

Sanji’s Observation Haki Feels Like a Compensation

While it is proved that Sanji’s Observation Haki is better than Zoro’s, it feels like it has become quite overrated with every arc. Initially, it was simply confined to the simple standards of a normal Observation Haki user, but as the story progressed, it was enhanced so much that it felt like Eiichiro Oda was compensating for Sanji’s inability to use Conqueror’s Haki.

For the longest time, fans have felt that Oda has been biased toward Roronoa Zoro, as he has given him constant upgrades in his character development in One Piece. Wano was a special arc for the swordsman as he not only got a new sword but also unlocked Conqueror’s Haki and most likely used the advanced version of it.

While Sanji also got a new upgrade as he unlocked his Germa abilities, his Haki was limited to Observation Haki. Thus, his Observation Haki has started feeling overrated, and Oda needs to change it soon. Just like Zoro, Sanji also deserves to grow in other abilities if he is going to help Luffy achieve his dream of becoming the Pirate King in One Piece.
