When Hailey Van Lith left the Lousiville Cardinals to transfer to the LSU Tigers, many thought the team would be unstoppable and win it all again.

The team was very good but hardly unstoppable, as Hailey Van Lith was certainly not being used in the way that she had thought.

After losing to the Iowa Hawkeyes in the NCAA Tournament, Van Lith hit the transfer portal seemingly with no ill will.

Van Lith, who went from averaging 19.7 points per game as a junior at Louisville to just 11.6 as a senior at LSU, seemingly threw shots at her former stomping grounds during her first interview with the TCU Horned Frogs.

In her interview, Hailey Van Lith stated she wanted a year of college where she “loves where she is” and “who she is around.”

She further added that she wanted to go somewhere that would make her feel good about herself while there.

Van Lith, who joined LSU this past season and reached the Elite Eight with the defending national champion before a loss to Caitlin Clark and Iowa, spent her first three seasons with Louisville, reaching a Final Four and another Elite Eight before deciding to join four-time champion coach Kim Mulkey’s team.

The difference in her play was evident. She played mostly wing for Louisville before moving to point guard for Mulkey’s team.

She will now join a program that made the AP Top 25 this season before injuries forced the team to forfeit two games and hold open tryouts to bolster the roster.

The team started the year 14-0 before a six-game losing streak capped by the two forfeits. They finished 21-12 and 6-12 in the Big 12 under second-year coach Mark Campbell, per APNews.com.

Kim Mulkey Opens Up About Hailey Van Lith Transferring After Just One Season With LSU

LSU coach Kim Mulkey broke her silence earlier this year after Hailey Van Lith entered the college basketball transfer portal.

“Her aspirations were to get drafted this year,” Mulkey said via NOLA.com. “And she realized, ‘I need another year, and I need to go back to a place where I can relax and get back to my normal position. And what do you do? You hug her, and you wish her well.”
