Beyoncé’s dad Matthew Knowles has shared his thoughts about his daughter being snubbed on the 2024 CMA Awards nominations list.
Speaking to TMZ, the 72-year-old record executive pointed to race relations.
Cowboy Carter, which topped Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart this year, was skipped over in notable categories including Single of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, and Female Vocalist of the Year.
‘There’s more white people in America and unfortunately they don’t vote based on ability and achievements; it’s still sometimes a white and black thing,’ he explained.
He also shared that the singer’s latest project being overlooked ‘speaks for itself.’

Speaking to TMZ , the 72-year-old record executive pointed to race relations to account for the snub
The protective dad, who used to manage Beyoncé, said he’s not surprised about the lack of nominations due to the ‘current state of American culture.’
Knowles shared, ‘In America, there’s no accountability for people not being accepting of other cultures.’
Beyoncé first teased her eighth album during the Super Bowl this past February.
She led with two surprise singles — catchy, banjo-driven Texas Hold ‘Em and the emotional ballad 16 Carriages.
The full album dropped in March and offered fans, known as the Beehive, 27 tracks featuring a host of A-list collaborators.
Texas Hold ‘Em made the songstress the first Black woman to hold the number one spot on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart.
While promoting the new music earlier this year, the Renaissance music artist said the LP had been ‘five years in the making.’
She also revealed the album inspiration came from an experience that she had years ago, during which she didn’t ‘feel welcomed,’ leading people to believe she was referencing a chilly reception when she performed her song Daddy Lessons alongside The Chicks at the 2016 CMA Awards.

Beyoncé candidly shared that the criticism she received from viewers online motivated her to overcome glass ceilings in the industry.
She added that she dreams that in the future ‘the mention of an artist’s race, as it relates to releasing genres of music, will be irrelevant.’
In conclusion, she declared that her album ‘ain’t a country album,’ but rather ‘a “Beyoncé” album.’
After the album’s release, the former Destiny’s Child sensation reflected: ‘The joy of creating music is that there are no rules. The more I see the world evolving, the more I felt a deeper connection to purity.’
