NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell Agreed To Contract Extension With League

Roger Goodell has served as the NFL’s commissioner since 2006, guiding the league to continued growth as the world’s most valuable sports league.

He replaced Paul Tagliabue and recently got his fourth extension, which will take his tenure beyond 20 years.

Goodell received a three-year contract extension through March 2027.

“It really was quite simple, honestly,” Goodell said of the process involved for the extension. “It was just a matter of getting to it, frankly. It wasn’t much of a discussion. It was pretty quick.

“I’m obviously honored to do this job.”

According to ESPN, Goodell, whose deal was set to expire in spring 2024, reportedly earned $63.9 million annually for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons.

He made it clear that he wants to execute the league’s “long-range plan,” which includes becoming a global sport.

Aside from playing American football in different countries, the sport is set to compete in the 2028 Olympics in the form of flag football.

Former NFL star quarterback Brett Favre has taken a swipe at pop sensation Taylor Swift for political reasons ahead of the upcoming 2024 presidential elections.

The 11-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro is known to be a supporter of former President Donald Trump and has previously endorsed him.

He’s since taken a shot at Swift, who recently endorsed Democratic candidate and Vice President Kamala Harris following Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes informing everyone that he wouldn’t endorse a candidate.

“Good take by Mahomes,” he wrote in a tweet.

“I see a lot of celebs trying to influence their audience instead of letting the people think for themselves. If the best choice for them ain’t clear and they’re easily swayed by their fav pop artist, it’s not going to be a good thing.”
