NFL legends’ comments on Taylor Swift come back to bite after Patrick Mahomes backing
Brett Favre has been branded a ‘hypocrite’ after he criticized Taylor Swift for endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris, despite the NFL legend endorsing Donald Trump
NFL great Brett Favre has been called out for double standards after he criticised pop sensation Taylor Swift for her political endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris.
This came on the heels of Brittany Mahomes, wife of Kelce’s teammate Patrick Mahomes, seemingly showing support for ex-President Trump on social media. However, following Trump’s declaration of dislike for Swift, Brittany is reportedly reconsidering her stance.
Mahomes himself recently spoke about politics, expressing his desire to stay neutral. Favre, a Super Bowl winner and three-time NFL MVP, used Mahomes’ comments to take a swipe at Swift on X.
“Good take by Mahomes – I see a lot of celebs trying to influence their audience instead of letting the people think for themselves,” he remarked.
“If the best choice for them ain’t clear and they’re easily swayed by their fav pop artist, it’s not going to be a good thing,” he added. Yet, many have highlighted Favre’s own hypocrisy, as he openly supported Trump during the 2020 Presidential election cycle.
He stated: “My Vote is for what makes this country great, freedom of speech and religion, the second amendment, hard-working tax-paying citizens, police and military. In this election, we have freedom of choice, which all should respect. For me and these principles, my vote is for [ Donald Trump ].”

One sports enthusiast responded: “Does this include you coming out to say you’re voting for Trump or? It’s no different than Taylor endorsing Harris. Weird take,”.

Another chimed in: “Stop dude. Just stop. You’re essentially doing what you’re saying celebrities shouldn’t be doing. You’re trying to influence people on how to make decisions and choices in their lives. Which is weird. What if the celebrity’s take is part of the research? “.
However, some agreed with Favre’s perspective, despite his apparent hypocrisy. One person commented on X: “I don’t think public figures should be getting involved with politics, because people look up to them like they’re so much better than the rest of us and will follow them blindly… People need to have their own opinions on politics, free thinking is going down the drain, scary! “.
Another posted on Twitter : “He’s [Mahomes] a Class act, always. Politics have no place in sports or entertainment. We all have our opinion and that’s fine. Sports and entertainment should be neutral ground where we leave that aside and just enjoy being fans together. If we can do that, maybe there is hope, for us yet.”
