We All Owe Shanks an Apology: Oda’s Latest One Piece Chapter Clears Up the Betrayal Rumors

Shanks has never escaped the “rat” allegations after the Reverie Arc but the ending of chapter 1134 might prove his loyalty to Luffy in One Piece after all.

Shanks’ twin theory has only become stronger after the ending of chapter 1134 of One Piece.
This isn’t the first time this “Shanks” has acted suspiciously, and the framing of these panels have to be intentional.
Fans who were suspicious of the Red-Hair Emperor now believe they owe him an apology.

Spoiler Alert !!!

Spoilers ahead for Chapter 1134 of One Piece!

The latest chapter of One Piece involved a surprise ending that no one expected. Shanks is the center of several theories, many accusing him of betraying Monkey D. Luffy. However, chapter 1134 might just prove his innocence after all this time we spent being suspicious of him.

The Elbaph Arc currently doesn’t have a clear antagonist and the main plot of it hasn’t even begun yet until this chapter teased a new threat. At the end of it, it said that intruders had arrived through some magic circles. One of the intruders looked eerily like Shanks, only showing his side profile.

This is possibly not the first time we’ve seen this intruder pose as Shanks nor the first time he’s been teased. There are too many unanswered questions as to how this person exists in the first place, with a twin theory being the most plausible. However, this does negate any possibility that Shanks is on the World Government’s side in One Piece.

Eiichiro Oda hasn’t made it clear what Shanks’ true goals or nature are. His actions haven’t made it any more obvious. In the Summit War Saga, he shows care for Ace, asking Whitebeard to call him back, and stops the war too. He gave the two fallen pirates a proper burial and funeral too. He even makes sure Luffy gets his straw hat back, the one he entrusted to him

On the other hand, the Red-Hair Emperor can be ruthless. Despite Bartolomeo proving his loyalty to his old friend, his crew destroyed the Barto Club Pirates’ ship. So, his personality remains a bit of a mystery. Is he on Luffy’s side or not?

During the Reverie Arc, we witnessed Shanks meet the Five Elders and warn them about an unnamed pirate. However, what’s noticeable is that the panel never showed the left side of his face which has his signature scar. A fan noticed this detail and compared it to another panel.

It’s one thing to show just the right side of this person’s face in one panel of One Piece but for it to happen twice has to be intentional. Oda doesn’t exactly hold back on the teasing and foreshadowing. He’s also done it a third time during Vegapunk’s message with the mysterious silhouette that looked like Shanks.

One Piece fans owe Shanks an apology for doubting him

Shanks has been Luffy’s friend since the beginning of One Piece and even saved the boy from a kidnapping and potentially being eaten. That was enough for several fans to never doubt him but not all of them.

Most fans became suspicious during the Reverie Arc and rightfully, they were worried. However, a surprise evil twin is entirely possible, although cliche, especially if his father is confirmed to be Saint Figarland Garling. Now fans are convinced Shanks is innocent.

There’s no clear answer yet as to who this person is and if they are his twin. They could be a clone of Shanks if the World Government somehow acquired his DNA. On the other hand, Oda could decide to mess with us further and confirm it is the Shanks that we love.
