Bronny James, the son of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, was one of the most anticipated players before the NBA draft. However, expectations were dashed when the 19-year-old wasn’t picked in the first round of the 2024 NBA draft. The Lakers later selected him with the 55th overall pick in the second round. Recently, his brother Bryce opened up about Bronny’s journey to the NBA and his challenges.

In a recent interview with Uninterrupted at Nike’s Elite Youth Basketball League’s prestigious Peach Jam tournament, Bryce shared his thoughts on the challenges Bronny faced during his college career.

“It’s a great feeling, just knowing that my brother, uh, the journey that he has had, just came that far from the cardiac arrest, to all the difficulties that he has had in his career in college. You know, it’s amazing to see him playing with dad.” Bryce James said [2:33].

The 17-year-old, who recently imitated his father’s pose in a photo, also mentioned the tragic incident from last year when Bronny suffered a cardiac arrest during a basketball workout at the University of Southern California due to a congenital heart defect.

Bryce James Can’t-Wait to See Dad and Brother Light Up the Court

LeBron James will soon play his 22nd season in the NBA and team up with his son Bronny. LeBron and Bronny will mark the first-ever father-son duo in NBA history. Bryce has always supported his father and brother from the courtside. The 17-year-old James expressed his excitement to see his father and brother playing together on the court

I’ve always looked at him. Of course, he is my big brother. It was definitely a great experience just seeing how far he has come, like the journey that he had to go through… And then also, off the court, just like, being around him, being with him, then just hearing his name get called. It’s just all surreal.” Bryce James added.

Playing alongside his son, Bronny, has been LeBron James’ long-time wish. The next NBA season is quickly approaching, and the Lakers will play against the Minnesota Timberwolves in their first preseason game.
