Dana White’s ongoing stint as the UFC head honcho is often referred to as the best ever for any combat sports promoter in history. Now, he is also the proud owner of another company that promotes slap fighting called Power Slap, and his new promotion has gained immense popularity ever since its inception. However, it wasn’t just his brilliant management skills that helped him grow the MMA promotion. Instead, it took him a lot of blood and sweat to make UFC what it is today. Recently, the 55-year-old revealed massive details about his health, which will leave fans even more praiseful for the dynamic CEO.
The UFC head honcho recently spoke to TIME. He defended Power Slap and compared its safety measures with UFC. Moreover, as he continued, he revealed the impact that boxing as a youngster had on his health. White said,
“I used to box when I was younger. I went in and I did one of those brain studies. I have black spots all over my brain from what I did. I wouldn’t take one back one punch. Not one. The position that I’m in right here, right now, today, I wouldn’t take one punch back because I loved it that much. And the doctors all talk about, ‘Somebody could die’—I got news for all the doctors. We’re all gonna die.”
Well, despite having black spots in his brain, White doesn’t really shy away from work. Fans often see him promoting almost all the UFC events. Moreover, he is working day in and out to make the Ultimate Fighting Championship and Power Slap even bigger promotions across the globe.
Dana White Opens Up On Working Alongside Saudi’s Turki Alalshikh At UFC 306 Sphere
Saudi Arabia’s involvement in sports has drastically gained momentum in the last few years. Whether it be football or golf, the Kingdom has been investing a humongous amount of money in the sports industry. Now, even the combat sports world has joined hands with the UFC, having them sponsor multiple mega-events.
Ahead of UFC 306, also known as the Riyadh Season Noche UFC, White discussed the reason behind working with Alalshikh despite Saudi Arabia’s human rights record. Speaking in the same event, the UFC head honcho said,
“Turki [Alalshikh] reached out to me. He’s a huge fan of combat sports. And he wanted to be a part of the Sphere. You know, these guys are getting into everything, boxing, golf, God knows what else. He wanted to sponsor this event, he loved it, he believed in it. And as far as doing business with Saudi Arabia, everybody’s doing business with Saudi Arabia.”
Notably, White claims that UFC 306 will have a history gate record. Well, association with Saudi Arabian investors will undoubtedly have a significant impact on the MMA promotion. However, the big question, which still remains, is how long this partnership will last.
