Demons Have Hamburgers

Goku’s first encounter with Demon Realm food is in Episode 3 of DAIMA. Goku arrives at a seemingly suspicious bar following a tip from an innkeeper about their unique and famed hamburgers.

hey’re a chaotic twist to Earth’s hamburger; they come in black buns, and instead of tomatoes… they come with a tongue. Gloria warns Goku that he shouldn’t wonder about the origin of the meat. The melted cheese whets Goku’s Saiyan appetite as he devours enormous quantities of burgers- while participating in a bar fight.

In Episode 4, we see a temporary pause to Goku’s carefree journey as he halts at a Demon Realm rest stop. Seeing the shrunken kid form of Goku, a kind demon offers him what seems to be a skewered lizard.

The lizard has vibrant red and yellow scales, clearly otherworldly in origin; Goku is undaunted and bravely takes a bite. Although it might have looked weird, Goku finds it to be absolutely delicious, further proving his willingness to embrace the realm’s eccentric cuisine.

Not every culinary experiment of Goku’s succeeds in the Demon Realm. While he was enjoying his skewered lizard, Goku was served with a golden herb juice filled with what seemed to be tiny eyeballs.

The Saiyan has moments when he falters; even the legendary stomach of the Saiyan race cannot bear the ‘uniqueness,’ and Goku is disgusted by the drink. Although the shopkeeper assures Goku about its health benefits, Goku is repulsed by it.

Canned Meat

In Episode 6, we see Goku and his team share a campfire meal in a cave. It does not make for the best of foods, but Goku dives into his canned meat (a brown lump of unknown origin, which seems to have blood vessels).

The meat is shaped to represent the creature it was taken from, but Goku is deaf to any information from Gloria as he busily devours the can of demon meat.

Demon Realm Takoyaki

The strangest food consumed by the little Saiyan on his visit to the Demon Realm is surely the Demon Realm specialty: takoyaki. These aren’t your usual tokayaki; they bite.

The greenish-red spheres have teeth and are anxious to take the first bite. Goku and the team barely take a second look as they devour the famed food. They instantly fall in love with eating and consuming large amounts of takoyaki.

No matter how peculiar the items on the menu, the Saiyan’s appetite stands undefeated!
