Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese shared a selfie with Gabrielle Union, wife of Chicago legend Dwyane Wade, from what looked like the set of her podcast, hinting at a potential appearance by the actress.

Angel Reese, host of the “Unapologetically Angel” show, shared a selfie on her Instagram Stories, sporting a white shirt, while Gabrielle Union wore a black tank top.

Reese captioned the photo, tagging Union:

“DROP DEAD GORG.”

Earlier, Reese had gifted the Wade family a “Double-Double” package featuring her pink Barbie-themed gear for Kaavia, the daughter of Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union.

Playing for the Sky in Wade’s hometown of Chicago, Angel Reese has received significant praise from him. This connection is further solidified as Wade became a minority stakeholder in the Sky in 2023.

Wade has commended Reese and fellow 2024 WNBA draftee Caitlin Clark for their roles in drawing attention to the women’s game.

“You have fan bases drawn to Caitlin Clark because of who she is and what she represents and you have fan bases drawn to Angel Reese because of who she is and what she represents,” Wade said (per Associated Press). “Which brings in more attention, more sellouts, more jersey sellouts.”

What’s next for Angel Reese after the Sky miss the playoffs?

The seventh overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft from LSU, Angel Reese finished her rookie season with a league-record 26 double-doubles. Alyssa Thomas of the Connecticut Sun holds the single-season record with 28 double-doubles in 2023.

Reese led the WNBA in total rebounds per game (13.1) and offensive rebounds per game (5.1). Unfortunately, her season was cut short due to a wrist injury, contributing to the Sky’s missed playoff berth after finishing the season with five consecutive losses.

Looking ahead, Reese is set to play in the Unrivaled Basketball League, a 3-on-3 women’s league founded by WNBA stars Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier, which will debut in January 2025 in Miami.

In her injury announcement, Reese expressed excitement about her return to women’s basketball through the Unrivaled League and plans to use her time off for physical and mental recovery.

“I am finally able to give myself a physical and mental break,” she stated. “You’ll still see me being the biggest cheerleader on the sideline! And Unrivaled league, see you soon.”

Meanwhile, many of her Chicago Sky teammates will play overseas opportunities.

Brianna Turner will play in the Australian WBL, Chennedy Carter will join Wuhan Shengfan in the WCBA, Dana Evans will compete with Beşiktaş in the Turkish WBSL, Isabelle Harrison will join USK Prague in the Czech NBL and Athletes Unlimited.

Kamilla Cardoso will play for the Shanghai Swordfish in the WCBA and Lindsay Allen will compete with Botaş SK in the Turkish WBSL. Diamond DeShields will play in Europe, though her team is still undetermined.
