REPORT: Shocking New Front-Runner Emerges To Be The Next NFL Head Coach To Get Fired

Between Kevin Stefanski, Mike McCarthy, Doug Pederson, Dennis Allen, Brian Daboll and Antonio Pierce, there’s an alarming amount of NFL head coaches who could be fired well before the conclusion of the regular season.

Through the first seven weeks of 2024, Robert Saleh was the only coach to be fired. The New York Jets let Saleh go after their Week 5 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, and defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich replaced him. Doug Pederson was previously the front-runner to be the next coach fired, but Kevin Stefanski has leapfrogged him.

According to the latest betting odds at Bookies.com, Stefanski is the new favorite to be the next NFL head coach fired at +200. Daboll is second at +350, with Pederson and McCarthy sharing the third-highest odds at +500.

They’re followed by Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni at +750 and Cincinnati Bengals HC Zac Taylor at +1200.

Kevin Stefanski won NFL Coach of the Year honors in 2020 and 2023 after leading the Browns to rare postseason appearances. But the 2024 season has spiraled out of control due largely to an unproductive offense.

Despite his historically bad production, the 1-6 Browns faced criticism for sticking with Deshaun Watson. Watson suffered a season-ending Achilles tear in Sunday’s loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, and the team signed Bailey Zappe to help a QB room with Jameis Winston and Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

Kevin Stefanski Isn’t The Problem In Cleveland

As Stefanski and every other NFL head coach knows, it’s easier to fire one person than it is to change up an entire roster. But if the Browns end up firing Stefanski, it doesn’t at all solve the problem within the organization.

Owner Jimmy Haslam and GM Andrew Berry had no business trading for Watson despite his legal issues, when they had a quality quarterback in Baker Mayfield. Remember, Stefanski led the Browns to the playoffs with a 38-year-old Joe Flacco who was near retirement just last year.

If Stefanski is let go by the Browns, he won’t be out of work for long.
