Philadelphia 76ers rookie Jared McCain is making rounds on the internet for his recent tribute to Caitlin Clark. McCain was seen rocking the Indiana Fever star’s shirt ahead of the Sixers’ road game against the Indiana Pacers on Sunday.

Fans had mixed reactions to Jared McCain’s gesture as they took to social media to share their opinion.

Caitlin Clark had amassed a huge fan following during her collegiate career, which only increased throughout her historic rookie season in the WNBA. Many NBA players have lauded the WNBA Rookie of the Year on various occasions, with Jared McCain being the latest to show his support.

Featuring on the latest episode of Angel Reese’s podcast “Unapologetically Angel,” NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal admitted to being a Caitlin Clark “hater” during her collegiate career with the Iowa Hawkeyes. While praising Clark for her impact on the WNBA, Shaq shared that he used to hate her previously, citing his support for Reese.

“She’s doing stuff we’ve never seen before. Never seen nobody do that on a consistent basis,” said Shaq.

“There’s a lot of girls in the WNBA that does it in spurts, but you know, that game I’m watching y’all in the Final Four, I’m like damn, and I was a hater ’cause you know I’m down with you, and I was like she’s not going to hit that shot and ‘Bam!’ Like if I say 10 times you not going to hit the shot and you hit the shot, that means you the truth.”

Caitlin Clark arguably had one of the best rookie seasons in WNBA history, as she broke numerous rookie and overall records throughout the season. She also led the Indiana Fever to their first playoff appearance since 2016 before being eliminated in the first round.
