Patrick Mahomes was sacked five times by the Las Vegas Raiders in the 19-17 Black Friday win.
And Reid decided to pull Morris from the line-up in a bid to change the protection.
“Wanya, he was struggling a little bit,” Reid admitted.
“That was the right thing to do at that time.”
Kansas City has struggled with protection issues up front this season.
Reid revealed he consulted with offensive line coach Andy Heck about the decision.
“I talked to Andy about it,” Reid said.
“He agreed with it, and so we made that move and just solidify things.
“Patrick Mahomes took a few hits there, and so we were struggling at times.”
Morris is in his second season with the Chiefs having been drafted in the third round in 2023.
He has filled the gap left by Kingsley Suamataia with the rookie struggling on Mahomes’ blindside.
“It’s disruptive to any offense if the quarterback is getting hit and not able to get the ball off,” Reid said of Morris.
“So that can be a problem.
“He played against a couple of good players, but you got to do better than what we did there.”

Kansas City moved to 11-1 with their win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Friday.
The victory sealed a playoff berth as the Chiefs chase an unprecedented third straight Super Bowl.
Mahomes said, “We hold ourselves to such a high standard.
“We don’t feel like we’re playing our best football.
“We have to find a way to build up to play great [as] a full, entire team.
“It’s awesome that we’re finding ways to get wins – that’s what you’re going for.
“But our goal is to get to the Super Bowl.”
