The Oklahoma City Thunder’s strong start to the NBA season took a big hit after their recent game against the Golden State Warriors. Chet Holmgren, who has been a key player for the team in his second season, now faces a tough challenge. A serious injury has put a question mark on the team’s immediate future.
In the first quarter of Sunday’s game, Holmgren, known for his height and defensive skills, tried to block a shot from Andrew Wiggins. Unfortunately, he fell hard to the floor and couldn’t put any weight on his right leg as he left the court with help. Initial reports worried fans, and soon, confirmation came that Holmgren had suffered a right iliac wing fracture, an injury to part of the hip.
This is not a minor injury. Holmgren will be out for at least 8-10 weeks and will be re-evaluated in January 2025, meaning he could miss a few months of the season. This is tough news for a player who already missed his entire first year due to a foot injury but came back strong last season, playing all 82 games. His absence is a huge loss for the Thunder, who looked good in the competitive Western Conference.
Despite the setback, Holmgren reached out to fans from his hospital bed to share his feelings. He posted a heartfelt message on X, previously known as Twitter, talking about his frustration and determination.
Chet Holmgren’s Message To Fans
Holmgren’s message showed how much the situation was affecting him. He wrote: “Can’t tell if I feel better or worse about this having been through something similar before. On one hand I know how to approach it, I know what to do, what not to do and how beautiful the other side is. But on the other hand I’ve felt the frustration of this process, and the wear it puts on your mind. Most of all I’m hurt I can’t help my teammates and play for our fans and supporters for a while.
“Everyone who sticks with me and our team, along with my need for hoops, is a big part of my passion to return. Don’t pity me or feel bad, there’s lots of people out there rn with real problems that don’t heal. Anyways excuse my rambling just wanted to address our okc fans and family. Thoughts from da hospital bed.”

His honest words struck a chord with many, showing not only the physical pain but also the mental challenge of facing another long recovery. Holmgren’s message highlighted his strength and compassion for others going through even tougher situations, showing his maturity through this tough time.
The Thunder now face the task of adjusting to life without Holmgren and backup center Isaiah Hartenstein, who also suffered an injury. This means the team might have to use smaller lineups for now. Fans, teammates, and the Thunder organization will support Holmgren as he works on his recovery, hoping to see him back on the court stronger than before.

ESPN has made a decision on Jason Kelce following his recent altercation with a young Penn State fan.
The former Eagles star had an incident with a Nittany Lions supporter on his way to their game against Ohio State on Saturday that ended up going viral online.
Kelce made an appearance on ESPN’s ‘College GameDay’ ahead of the fixture, but it wasn’t a smooth Saturday as he smashed a fan’s phone for asking how he feels about his brother Travis being “f***ot” for dating Taylor Swift, because it’s apparently gay to date women now…
Kelce would grab said fan’s phone, as he was recording him at the time, before smashing it and then asking him, “Who’s the faggot now?”
