EVER since Joaquin Phoenix’s movie Joker: Folie A Deux was announced, fans have been on the edge of their seats to see how the story will play out.

The highly anticipated musical-sequel follows the plot from the original 2019 film and the ending is explosive.

Joker: Folie À Deux hit theatres on October 4, 2024, with fans finally getting to see the next chapter in Arthur Fleck’s (Joaquin Phoenix) story.

The plot sees him institutionalized at Arkham awaiting trial for his crimes as Joker.

The movie follows Arthur’s struggle with himself and his murderous alter-ego.

However, while he languishes in the asylum, he meets Lee AKA Harley Quinn (Lady Gaga) and finds love – both with her and with music.

As the movie plays out, we see Lee encourage Arthur to become his alter-ego, Joker, as she feels this is his “true self”.

As Arthur’s trial finally plays out, he is forced to come to terms with what he has done, and that he can no longer blame the clown character within him.

Dressed as Joker, Arthur reveals that his evil persona was “just a fantasy”, and instead he was the one who was responsible for killing his victims.

This confession sees Lee horrified, and heartbroken as she leaves the courtroom, along with many of Joker’s followers.

It’s not over yet

But the action doesn’t stop there, as after the guilty verdict is reached, a bomb goes off.

Seizing their moment, two of Arthur’s supporters take him to freedom where he comes face-to-face with Lee.

He begs her to come with him but she refuses, so he instead hands himself in.

As the film finally comes to an end, Arthur is back in a cell with a young inmate called Ricky.

The menacing young man tells a joke, before declaring: “You get what you f***ing deserve,”

The movie then ends with Ricky repeatedly stabbing Arthur to death before taking the knife and carving a smile into his face.

Possibility of Joker 3

Although there has been no mention yet of Joker 3, there is speculation the film could be back for a third offering.

Some film buffs are following the theory that there will be a new Joker.

Due to the way he killed Arthur, they think Ricky could be the next evil clown in town.

Lady Gaga screen time shocks fans

The Sun revealed how Lady Gaga is on screen for only 33 minutes of Joker: Folie A Deux.

This is despite her getting second billing, and her role being heavily hyped in promotional advertising.

This means the superstar singer appears in less than a quarter of film’s 139 minutes running time.

Early reviews of the film have criticized her lack of screen time, with one calling her “criminally underused”.

Despite her limited screen time, Lady Gaga has revealed she would love to return to play the role of Lee again.

She told The Hits Radio Breakfast Show in the UK: “I definitely don’t feel done with Lee as a character.

“She’s got so much to say. What an interesting gal.”
