Newly released bodycam footage shows the moment a Virginia police officer fatally shot former basketball player Sydney Wilson.
Fairfax County Police released the footage after uproar at the death of the 33-year-old woman.
Crisis intervention officer Peter Liu approaches Wilson’s apartment after her doctor raised concerns about her mental health.
Crisis intervention officer Peter Liu knocked on the door, and Sydney Wilson answered. However, she would quickly close it.
The officer then continued to knock on the door for nearly 10 minutes before she finally answered again.
The bodycam footage then showed a frightening moment when Sydney Wilson opened the door and immediately slashed Liu with a knife.
Caught by surprise, Liu backed up into the hallway and drew his firearm, and ordered Wilson to retreat.
She did not listen.
She continued to charge at him with the knife, and the officer was forced to shoot the Georgetown University women’s basketball player in self-defense after she attacked him with a knife.
BLM claimed that Sydney Wilson was unjustly killed by racist cops.
