A’ja Wilson, the star player for the Las Vegas Aces, impressed the audience on Tuesday with an outstanding performance in an 85-72 victory over the Seattle Storm. In her 35 minutes of play, the 28-year-old star scored 21 points, dished out two assists, and grabbed seven rebounds. Additionally, Wilson added another achievement to her long list of accomplishments during the game.
A recent post on the official Las Vegas Aces account on X (formerly Twitter) announced that Wilson now holds the record for the most total rebounds in a single WNBA regular season with 447 rebounds. The previous record was held by Angel Reese, a standout player for the Chicago Sky.
Wilson’s accomplishment garnered high praise from basketball enthusiasts, who shared their excitement in the post’s comment section on X (formerly Twitter).
On June 5, 2024, Wilson made WNBA history in a game against the Dallas Wings. She became the first player to score 35 points or more, grab ten rebounds, and make five steals in a single game. Additionally, the 28-year-old player set a new record for the most points scored in a single season on September 11 in a game against the Indiana Fever.
Wilson, who was recently called out for being fake by her own teammate, played a pivotal role in the Aces’ recent success. Additionally, she guided the team to consecutive WNBA championships in the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
Kelsey Plum Praises Wilson As The Unanimous MVP
Wilson, who has won the WNBA MVP award twice, is aiming to win her third MVP award. She currently holds the top position on the KIA 2024 MVP Ladder for the current season. Moreover, in a recent interview with Noa Dalzell of SB Nation, Kelsey Plum stated that she would share conspiracy theories if A’ja Wilson didn’t win the MVP award unanimously.
“If she’s not the unanimous MVP, I have conspiracy theories. I mean, I really will [have conspiracy theories], you know? I don’t even know who else you put in the conversation, to be honest.” Plum said.
On September 15, Wilson became the first WNBA player to score 1,000 points in a single season. According to ESPN, the 28-year-old star is currently averaging 26.9 points, 11.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.8 steals per game. It will be fascinating to see if she can clinch the MVP honor for the current season.
