Being the son of an NBA legend like LeBron James comes with immense pressure, especially when following in his footsteps. Bronny James, LeBron’s son, is a prime example of this. Despite his efforts, Bronny faces constant backlash, and his time with the Lakers, along with his poor performance in the Summer League, only added to the criticism.

Despite the criticism, Bronny has strong support from one of LeBron’s former Lakers teammates, Shaquille O’Neal. During an appearance on The OGs podcast with Udonis Haslem and Mike Miller, Shaq expressed his thoughts on the unfair criticism Bronny faces.

Little Bronny is my nephew. Happy for him. I wish him well. I know his work ethic, and there’s a lot of storylines, good and bad, behind that. I just hope everything goes well. And I want the young fella to be happy. I kind of know what he’s going through because my son Shareef, he’s still trying,” Shaq said.

So my wish for Bronny is to be happy. I hate the storylines; I hate the nepotism talk and all that; it doesn’t matter. Because his son and my son are best friends. I’m not gonna jeopardize their relationship just by saying some shit. He’s like a nephew to me, so I just wish him well,” he added.

Bryce James Praises Bronny James’ Recovery After Cardiac Arrest

Besides the on-court challenge, Bronny James also met a major off-court challenge due to his cardiac arrest during a workout at USC. This off-court health scare shook the James family, but Bronny has shown incredible resilience in overcoming it.

His younger brother Bryce James recently opened up about Bronny’s recovery journey during an episode of Top Class Hoops. Bryce shared admiration for how far the Lakers star has come since the incident.

“You know, it’s a great feeling just knowing that my brother, uh, the journey that he’s had just came that far from the cardiac arrest to all the difficulties that he has had in his career in college. You know, it’s amazing to see him play with his dad,” Bryce said.

The Lakers team will kick off the season with a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. It’ll remain to be seen if Bronny can make the roster to play alongside his father.
