Kansas City Chiefs’ Travis Kelce has made it clear that he “wouldn’t listen” if asked to take a backseat role, as he gears up for another successful NFL season.

The tight end is on a mission to lead his team to an unprecedented “Threepeat” in the upcoming campaign, following two consecutive Super Bowl victories in recent years. With the foundations of a modern-day dynasty already laid at Arrowhead Stadium, the superstar remains focused on driving further success.

Despite attracting global attention last season due to his off-field romance with pop sensation Taylor Swift, his dedication to the sport remains unwavering. As his 35th birthday looms in October, Kelce insists he plans to be as involved as ever with his team this season.

When asked how he would react if head coach Andy Reid suggested a diminished role in the forthcoming year, the outspoken star confessed he wouldn’t entertain the idea. Reinforcing his commitment to the cause, he stated: “I probably wouldn’t listen to them if they did.

“You get more comfortable with your body. You learn things from the mistakes you made in years past and things like that. You just constantly keep getting better and keep getting more aware of where your body’s at.

“I’m excited. I get to play another year of football [with a] fresh slate. Get to kind of prove to ourselves and Chiefs Kingdom that we’re one of the top dogs and we can play at a high level.”

Aside from his commitments with KC, the NFL veteran has recently ventured into acting roles and continues to receive praise for his award-winning “New Heights” podcast, which he records with his brother Jason Kelce.

Despite these new ventures, the younger Kelce brother maintains that football remains his main focus. He shared: “I just love coming in here [and] I just love football and how it takes me away from life.

“It gives me something I can feel genuinely happy about. I enjoy coming into the building, working on my craft, getting to understand a new game plan and perfecting that for the people around me. [It] gives me a purpose to kind of go about my day and to live my life and I have so much excitement doing it.

“I’m forever fortunate to be able to play as many games as I’ve played already in this league and that’s why I really enjoy going out there every single day, even if it’s just a practice to really work on my craft. I know not everybody gets that same fortune in their career and I’m ready to rock Week 1 and I’m thankful for it.”
