Taylor Swift’s fans have always been quick to pick up on subtle hints and Easter eggs in her music and videos.
In a behind-the-scenes video of the “Bejeweled” music shoot posted to YouTube on Swift’s 35th birthday, Friday, December 13, the pop star – intentionally or not – offered Swifties another glimpse into her past relationship with Joe Alwyn.
Although Swift and Alwyn, 33, parted ways in April 2023 after six years together, it seems the memories of their time as a couple still linger. In the footage, which was posted nearly two years after the music video’s debut, Swift is seen directing an actor while holding her phone. As she gestured, the phone screen lit up, revealing the wallpaper: a picture of her resting her head on Alwyn’s shoulder as he lovingly held her.
This image, which was taken months before their breakup, quickly caught the attention of fans, with many seemingly not over the pair’s split.
“Her wall paper of her and Joe 🥺,” one fan commented on the video, while another replied, “TAYLOR’s PHONE SCREEN OMG.” A third emotionally wrote, “taylor’s phone wallpaper with Joe alwyn😭💔.”
After her relationship with Alwyn, Swift sparked dating rumors with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce in September 2023. The couple have since shot into superstardom, with their high-profile relationship quickly becoming a major topic in both the sports and entertainment worlds.
They’ve been spotted supporting each other over the past year with Kelce, 35, attending multiple of Swift’s Eras Tours (even taking the stage at one), and Swift returning the favor, cheering him on at many of his Chiefs games. On a more serious note, the duo also spent Thanksgiving together this year and have met each other’s families. Many fans wonder if Kelce plans to get down on one knee in the near future.
While Swift hasn’t publicly addressed her split with Alwyn – besides in her music – Alwyn told The Sunday Times in June that it was difficult to deal with the end of such a long relationship while the public watched from the sidelines. “I would hope that anyone and everyone can empathize and understand the difficulties that come with the end of a long, loving, fully committed relationship of over six and a half years,” he stated to the outlet.
