Patrick Mahomes was on the receiving end of plenty of jokes following his injury scare against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night.

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback enjoyed another grind-out win on the season but had hearts in mouths after he appeared to suffer an ankle injury in the fourth quarter.

The reigning Super Bowl MVP jarred his left leg while making a short touchdown pass to running back Samaje Perine to tie the game 17-17.

He went to the ground immediately after and seemed to be in some discomfort before the Chiefs’ medical staff assisted him to his feet and then helped him off the field.

The quarterback didn’t miss a single offensive snap after the injury. He returned to facilitate an important drive which ended in a second touchdown pass to DeAndre Hopkins, handing the Chiefs a 24-17 lead.

Social Media Thought Patrick Mahomes Faked It

Mahomes was a trending topic on X following that sequence, with many joking that he had faked the injury.

You can see some of the best reactions below:

Kansas City secured an 8-0 record with a 30-24 overtime victory for their trouble.

Mahomes spoke about his injury after the win, noting he rolled his ankle but the injury was not as bad as he thought, adding there was some fear over it as it was the same ankle he had hurt last week.

Mahomes has a history of ankle injuries and said he was dealing with soreness after the game, but he is expected to suit up for the Chiefs against the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
