Despite Hisagi’s insane regenerative abilities, he is one of Bleach’s most underrated characters who deserves more recognition from Tite Kubo.
SUMMARY
One of the most popular aspects of Bleach is its vast array of extraordinary characters, each possessing unique abilities.
For his ability to recover from even the most grievous wounds, Hisagi deserves far more recognition than he has received.
Bleach has always been known for its vast array of outstanding characters, each with abilities that are extremely unique and amazing for their own rights. These mostly comprise Shikai and Bankai, which are basically transformative powers and are the best examples of channeling rich spiritual energy.

However, in this pile of iconic characters, there is one whose extraordinary Bankai has long been neglected by the author. His powers are even comparable to the regenerative power of Marvel’s Wolverine! This is of course Shuhei Hisagi we are talking about, a hero with much-wasted potential.
Hisagi’s Wolverine-Like Powers Are Criminally Underrated!

The Captain of the 9th Division, Shuhei Hisagi, holds the power of a very infamous Zanpakuto, named Kazeshini. With his powers, Hisagi gets extraordinary abilities similar to Marvel’s Wolverine due to their common attribute of regeneration. Both of their body parts get completely healed after receiving wounds.
Hisagi’s chains can heal any and all injuries he takes rather quickly, no matter how vicious. This is further fueled by his Reiatsu, which makes him even more unbeatable. As a result, Hisagi has quite literally become a nearly-unkillable man, and combat against him is a nightmare for his opponents. This even puts him among the top-rated Shikai users in the series.
Although it’s just a Shikai ability, his chains still hold the utmost importance. His capability to heal even the most severe wounds makes him a character more worthy of recognition than actually given. The deeper we learn about his powers, we can see that his Shikai is actually one of the most useful abilities in the entire series, not just Bankai.
The Coolest Bankai of All Time: Hisagi’s Immortality Bankai

An infinite cycle of battle emerges, where winning is not a question of physical strength but of who has more endurance and Reiatsu reserve. Hisagi’s “Immortality Bankai” burns away all the old battle strategies, because here the opponent will always come back with full HP to fight again the next day.
This Bankai certainly changes the very essence of battle, that we are most familiar with in the Bleach universe. However, for some unexplained reasons, it seems like Tite Kubo overlooks this character’s potential even after making his game-changing abilities. Fans wish for Hisagi to deserve far greater recognition within the series.
The Bleach anime series is available to watch on Crunchyroll.
