Robert Saleh made a sad admission in the wake of his firing, revealing that he was taken by surprise when he was informed of the Jets’ decision to part ways with him.

The Jets pulled the plug on the head coach on Tuesday morning, bringing an end to his tenure after three-plus years in charge.

Saleh, who hadn’t experienced a winning season in NY, was hoping for the opportunity to turn things around after losing three of the first five games of the season. According to Jay Glazer, the HC has admitted to being “blindsided” by the news.

“Just talked to Robert Saleh who said was blindsided by Woody Johnson walking to his office and letting him go,” Glazer tweeted. “Certainly disappointed he wasn’t going to be given the opportunity to get things going with what he said is a very good roster.”

“He didn’t see this coming?” a fan asked.

“He’s 20-36 bro……… How long did he think he was going to get here?” another wondered.

“The opportunity to get things going was before losing 10-9 to Denver,” someone else said.

Robert Saleh Might Feel Like He Never Had A Chance

Saleh will argue that he never really had a fair shot, given the Jets’ quarterback situation over the last few years. He worked with rookie Zach Wilson in his first season in charge and had a rotation of Wilson, Joe Flacco, Mike White, and Chris Streveler in his second.

He should have gotten that breakthrough after the team traded for Aaron Rodgers, but the veteran star was injured just minutes into his debut and was subsequently ruled out for the rest of the campaign.

Despite Rodgers returning to full health this term, the Jets offense is still struggling.

Saleh could be forgiven for thinking it’s no fault of his that A-Rod threw a trio of interceptions against the Minnesota Vikings in London on Sunday, so he probably has every right to be surprised.
