During a segment on New Year’s Day, Shae made an error that left Sharpe smirking.
But the host took it in good fun as she later posted laughing emojis about the incident on social media.
Standing in for the usual hosts, the program had a ‘Best of 2024’ video playing that showed some of the funniest and most iconic moments of the year.
After the clip ended, Shae joked that she couldn’t believe Stephen A. infamously wearing a name clip wasn’t mentioned.
On his debut appearance on the show, Sharpe mistakenly called Smith ‘Skip.’
That was in reference to his former sparring partner Skip Bayless on FS1’s Undisputed, where he had worked for seven years.
Smith then memorably came up with a “solution to the problem” by wearing a name tag.
NFL legend Shannon burst into laughter when he saw it, in what was one of the best early moments between the two new colleagues.
The only problem – that all happened in 2023, not 2024.
Awful Announcing later posted the clip of Shae’s gaffe on X and wrote: “Shae Cornette confusing 2024 with 2023.”
But the host took it in good spirits as she posted the ‘100’ emoji and three laughing emojis.
While Smith was away from the show – and has been all week – he still hit out at colleague Mike Greenberg.
In another segment on 2024, Greeny had been looking at “those who dropped the ball” last year.
The New York Jets came top of that list, as the host even quoted team owner Woody Johnson’s, “Thinking is overrated”.
He then added: “The New York Jets of 2024 are gonna have to live with the fact that they are one of the great failures in recent sports memory, from top to bottom.”
But Smith took exception at Greenberg letting Aaron Rodgers off the hook.
The quarterback has endured the worst season of his career and his future with the team remains in the balance.
Smith posted: “Shocking!
“Never thought in my wildest dreams I’d accuse the one-and-only [Greenberg[ for being SLICK just now.
“He cannot have the [New York Jets] No 1 on your list and NOT mention [Aaron Rodgers].
“Come on, Greeny! But I love ya, Buddy.”
Greenberg later clarified his verdict – revealing why he declined to pick on Rodgers.
He said: “There is more than enough blame to go around.”
