Kansas City Chiefs president Mark Donovan has spoken out on the relationship between Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce as rumours continue to circulate about their love life

Kansas City Chiefs president Mark Donovan has spoken out on Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s relationship as rumours about the couple circulate.

The Chiefs’ star player has been dating the music icon for more than a year now, with Swift was spotted cheering the Chiefs tight end time and again at Arrowhead Stadium last season. As the romance between the singer-songwriter and the NFL ace blossomed, it has brought together Swift’s dedicated fanbase – known as Swifties – and Chiefs supporters, turning all eyes towards the NFL.

This popularity for the Chiefs grew after they clinched back-to-back Super Bowl victories in February, with Swift right there celebrating on the pitch with Kelce and his team-mates.

Swift has also been seen hanging out with Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes’s wife, Brittany, as both power couples capture the spotlight wherever they go. Amid the hype that has fuelled the Chiefs’ triumph during Kelce’s romance with Swift, whispers have persisted suggesting that his relationship with the musician is nothing but a concocted publicity stunt.

But Donovan has squashed the speculation, delivering a reassuring endorsement of the couple’s genuine connection. “I’d love to say that it was a marketing strategy, but it is an authentic relationship, and we’re happy to have it,” Donovan said on CNBC’s ‘Squawk Box’.

“It’s been nothing but good for us. I think the best thing I can say about the whole relationship and the impact it’s had on us is: Taylor Swift is an authentic member of the Kansas City Chiefs kingdom. She is an authentic fan, and that matters to our fans and our fanbase, and it matters to us and we try to respect that.”

Donovan’s glowing remarks about Swift followed his previous comments on finding ways to integrate Swift’s presence at home games. He acknowledged the need to strike a balance to not alienate die-hard Chiefs supporters, despite the attention she brings.

“We’re not trying to capitalize on this. We’re trying to celebrate it, but it’s not about doing too much or showing her every touchdown or anything like that,” Donovan explained.

Swift has earned the affection of the Chiefs community, who value her effort to attend regular season matches amidst her busy global Eras Tour, rather than just appearing during high-stakes postseason games and the Super Bowl.

The superstar has reciprocated the love from the Chiefs crowd, engaging with fans from her regular spot in the Arrowhead box with Brittany – as well as mingling with Kelce’s mother Donna and his brother, Philadelphia Eagles legend Jason.
