A blockbuster trade proposal has the Cincinnati Bengals sending wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase to an AFC rival in a move that would shake up the conference.

Ja’Marr Chase is having a career year in Cincinnati, already setting career highs in receptions (102) and touchdowns (15). He also needs just 43 more receiving yards to surpass the personal best of 1,455 he set in his rookie 2021 season.

Chase hasn’t at all indicated that he wants to leave Cincinnati, but the organization is notoriously budget-conscious. They wouldn’t pay Chase nor pending free agent Tee Higgins in the offseason, and the former’s value has only grown this year.

If Cincinnati ends up shopping the 24-year-old Ja’Marr Chase, they stand to receive a king’s ransom in return. He’s in the early stages of his prime and is a top-two receiver in football with Justin Jefferson, after all.

Matt Verderame of Sports Illustrated proposed a blockbuster trade idea that has Cincinnati trading Chase to the New England Patriots for 2025 second and third-round picks and 2026 first and fourth-rounders:

“In both deals, the Bengals would add a minimum of four top-100 selections over the next two drafts…

Looking ahead to this offseason’s available targets, Bengals general manager Duke Tobin could recreate what Kansas City did for Mahomes in 2022 by retaining Higgins to play the role of Travis Kelce, before signing second-tier weapons such as Darius Slayton, Greg Dortch and even an older player coming off injury such as Stefon Diggs.”

Incredibly, the Patriots haven’t had a 1,000-yard pass-catcher since 2019, when Julian Edelman hit the feat. Drake Maye has had a stellar rookie year on a rebuilding New England team, but a player like Chase would greatly improve the production of this long-struggling offense.

Bengals Will Likely Just Pay Ja’Marr Chase

Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase are playing the best football of their respective careers this year. At the end of the day, Cincy’s best bet is to keep the league’s best QB-WR tandem in place over the long run.
