Former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick spoke out against former President Trump ahead of Tuesday’s election as he continued his feud with him that started back in 2016.

During an interview Friday with The Wall Street Journal podcast, “The Future of Everything,” the former quarterback reflected on the incident in which Trump wanted him and others who kneeled during the Anthem to be fired and kicked off the field.

Colin Kaepernick said it is much “easier for him to analyze” now than it was seven years ago.

“I think one of the key elements that is important to think about in relation to that moment is what does it actually mean to at that point have a then-sitting president being willing to target an individual citizen and using the power of their office, the power of their influence, to be able to try to minimize an individual and their aspirations. So, thinking back to that moment, I also think, plays really prevalent into where we are at today and the future that we decide to build together,” Kaepernick said, via Fox News.

Colin Kaepernick still has hope of returning to the NFL, although it is unlikely to happen.

In the meantime, Kaepernick is already looking ahead to the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

In August, he stated that he’d like to play flag football—a new Olympic sport that will debut in 28—for Team USA.

“Hopefully, we’ll be out there,” Kaepernick told Sky Sports. “We’re gonna work on some things, see if we can make it in there. But we’d love to be out there.”

Donald Trump Once Urged NFL Owners To Kick Colin Kaepernick And Other Players Off Field

Former President Donald Trump was on a rampage against the NFL in 2017 when he criticized some in the National Football League for kneeling during the National Anthem.

Kaepernick had scores of athletes and fans supporting his right to take a knee during the national anthem in protest of police brutality, but everybody liked it.

President Trump said at an Alabama rally that NFL owners should “get that son of a bitch off the field” when players protested by sitting out the anthem.

“Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag,” Trump said, “to say, ‘Get that son of a bitch off the field right now, out. He’s fired. He’s fired!’”

The president appeared to be referring to former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

2016 would prove to be the last year that Kaepernick would play in the league.
