Erin Andrews Reveals Michael Strahan’s Stern 4-Word Response to Career Advice Question
Erin Andrews and Michael Strahan are now co-workers at Fox Sports, but there was once a time when the former sought out advice from the latter on how to be successful in the business world in addition to her budding sports-media career.
Andrews has been wildly successful with her two main career paths — she’s been an on-air talent with Fox Sports since June 2012 and she co-hosts the “Calm Down” podcast with fellow Fox Sports talent and Amazon Prime Video host Charissa Thompson, who’s also her best friend.
But when she decided she wanted to start a side clothing business, she knew she’d need some help from a savvy business mind.
During an interview with Entrepreneur, Andrews recalled a time when she actually approached Strahan and asked for some guidance about growing her business WEAR, which is a women’s apparel company that specializes in “versatile, elevated styles that celebrate fandom in a fun and flattering way.”
“I want to be the female version of Michael Strahan, I really do,” Andrews said. “He’s a good friend. I love how professional, relatable, hilarious, serious he can get. I think he’s made fantastic business choices in his life.
“Different advice along the way has meant a lot to me — one of them by Michael Strahan was ‘work like you’re broke,’ which I really like. I feel like when I was younger I thought I was working so hard, so when I got to my 40s I wouldn’t have to work hard, now I’ve never worked harder in my entire life.”
Strahan’s advice was so important for Andrews because she is an admirer of what he’s done since his retirement in addition to his television career.
Strahan is the co-founder of management agency SMAC Entertainment, which represents Andrews and other football personalities like Deion Sanders, Shedeur Sanders, Stefon Diggs and Tony Gonzalez as well as other high-profile several celebrities like Wiz Khalifa, Common and Shante Broadus.
WEAR, which Andrews launched in 2019, has become increasingly popular with female sports fans and got a big boost in popularity thanks to Taylor Swift, who wore several of Andrews’ pieces to Chiefs games last year.
