The pair were discussing the credentials of Saquon Barkley to win Most Valuable Player.

Barkley has proved a phenomenal signing for the Philadelphia Eagles since he was picked up from the New York Giants.

He leads the league in rushing this year with 1,499 yards – ahead of Derrick Henry on 1,407.

Barkley has powered the Eagles to a 10-2 record in the NFC and into Super Bowl contention.

The running back is on course to break Eric Dickerson’s single-season record of 2,105 yards from 1984.

And he could become the first non-quarterback to be named MVP since 2012.

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was the non-quarterback to win the award 12 years ago.

And, speaking on New Heights, Jason Kelce declared, “If he breaks that record and the Eagles end up being NFC champions – I don’t know how you don’t give that to Saquon Barkley.

“The thing that makes him so valuable is these big, second-half runs that either win games or put them out of reach.

“It’s been such a huge, determining factor in the Eagles being able to win games.”

But Travis went one step further.

He said, “Even if he doesn’t break the record.

If he’s one of the best players on one of the best teams in the league and he’s proven it year in year our in the biggest moments.

“What are we even talking about?”

Barkley had 107 yards and a touchdown in Philadelphia’s statement win over the Baltimore Ravens last week.

‘It was a short retirement!’

Jason Kelce didn’t stay retired in the NFL for long.

The former Philadelphia Eagles lineman called it quits after the 2023 season.

But he will be part of ESPN’s coverage on Monday Night Football in 2024.

Kelce will appear on Monday Night Countdown from 6pm-8pm ET every week as well as during the halftime show.

“Turns out, it was a short retirement!” he joked.

“ESPN was a consistent presence in our household growing up and the network helped shape who I am and my love of all sports.

“To now appear on that same screen is a full circle moment.

“And, I mean it’s freaking Monday Night Football! and I’m ready for some football.”

“Whenever they need a huge play in the second half, who better to give the ball to than Saquon Barkley?” Travis Kelce asked.

“He’s 0-60 faster than any other human that I’ve ever seen.

“He’s such a big dude – quads enormous.

“You’re trying to tackle this dude and slow him down, or get an arm on him.

“If you don’t get a solid hit on him, he’s liable to break a big run.”
