NIGEL Farage held an hour-long meeting with billionaire X owner Elon Musk amid speculation he could donate to Reform UK.

The pair met at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida on Monday alongside former Tory donor and property developer Nick Candy.

Mr Candy was last week unveiled as Reform UK’s new treasurer after ditching the Conservatives.

Mr Farage, on his sixth visit to the US since being elected as the MP for Clacton in Essex, posted a photo of the trio on X in front of a 1989 portrait of the US President-elect.

After the talks, Mr Farage and Mr Candy said in a joint statement: “We had a great meeting with Elon Musk for an hour. We learned a great
deal about the Trump ground game and will have ongoing discussions
on other areas. We only have one more chance left to save the West and we can do great things together.

“Our thanks also to President Trump for allowing us to use Mar-a-Lago for this historic meeting.

“The special relationship is alive and well.”

Mr Farage also met incoming vice president JD Vance, saying their meeting was “great”.

Earlier this month when asked by ITV, Mr Musk denied reports he was planning to donate £80million to Mr Farage’s party. But the latest meeting will likely fuel more rumours of a gift from the Tesla billionaire, who has openly criticised Keir Starmer. The Trades Union Congress said of the rumours: “It’s super-simple. A very rich man. Backing the politicians. That will do very good things. For very rich men.” Mr Musk is reported to have spent more than £197m to back Mr Trump’s re-election bid.

He is set to co-lead a new cost-cutting Department of Government Efficiency.

When asked about any donation by Mr Musk, the PM’s spokesman said: “There are already existing rules on foreign donations. But the government has committed to strengthening the rules.”
