NFL legend Rob Gronkowski has his say on Travis Kelce form after Taylor Swift claims
Travis Kelce has come under fire for his performances in the opening three weeks of the NFL season, with the Chiefs tight end’s relationship with Taylor Swift being blamed
Rob Gronkowski has stepped up to defend Travis Kelce amid criticism over the Kansas City Chiefs star’s slow start to the NFL season, which some have attributed to his relationship with Taylor Swift.
The New England Patriots legend threw his support behind Kelce as the tight end’s early-season form has come under scrutiny. Despite the Chiefs’ flawless 3-0 start, Kelce’s stats have been a talking point, with just eight receptions for 69 yards and no touchdowns so far.
Gronkowski, appearing on Kay Adams’ ‘Up and Adams’ show, addressed Kelce’s performance, emphasizing that the team’s unbeaten record is what truly counts. “It doesn’t matter that he’s not making plays right now,” Gronkowski remarked.
“The Chiefs are 3-0 right now, that’s all it matters in the wins and loss column, they’re undefeated. That’s the only thing that matters in the game of football, not stats.
“And if you ask me, Travis Kelce, he has the same amount of yards this year as my brother, Dan, who played three years in the NFL over his whole career. Dan G. has 69 career yards. Travis Kelce has 69 yards this year. So they’re both legends right now.”
Football pundit Todd McShay has pointed the finger at Kelce’s high-flying lifestyle with pop sensation Swift for his sluggish start this season. On ‘The Ryen Russillo’ podcast, McShay questioned the Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s dedication post-offseason.

“Are we not allowed to say that he’s out of shape? ” McShay challenged on the programme. “That he’s been partying all offseason? That he’s been jet-setting around with the most famous person probably in the entire world? That he’s drinking [and] going to the U.S. Open and he’s got cocktails? “.
During a heated exchange, Russillo highlighted the delicate balance between enjoying time off and forsaking football duties. McShay also mentioned a noticeable difference in Kelce’s condition, comparing his pre-season looks from 2022 and 2024, seemingly questioning if he was “barely the same person.”
Nevertheless, there were signs of promise as the Chiefs secured a 22-17 victory over the Atlanta Falcons in week three, with Kelce catching a season-best four passes for 30 yards. The Chiefs are preparing for their next challenge against the Los Angeles Chargers in week four.
