NFL star Jessie Bates III has confessed he won’t hold back against the Kansas City Chiefs, promising to taunt Travis Kelce about his relationship with Taylor Swift.

The pair’s romance has been under the media spotlight, with both celebs seen supporting each other at various events. They’ve now become a topic that fuses pop culture and sports.

Swift was spotted cheering on Kelce during his NFL game at Arrowhead Stadium against the Baltimore Ravens on September 5 – her Eras Tour is on pause until next month. Yet it seems their high-profile love story might have given Atlanta Falcons’ Bates extra motivation to confront Kelce on the field this weekend.

Prior to the much-anticipated clash, Bates outlined on The Pacman Jones Show exactly how far he’s willing to go when competing against the popular Chiefs tight end: “Once that clock ticks, and we’re in between those lines, I see red sometimes and might say some crazy stuff to him. It may involve Taylor, it may not.

“It’s just part of the game, talking your little smack. I don’t listen to much Taylor Swift, but, obviously, you gotta have respect for what she’s done in her career. And then with Travis [Kelce], you gotta have some type of respect with him.”

He also praised the partnership between Kelce and Patrick Mahomes, stating: “I think (Mahomes is) a dynamic player. You know he can play on time, and he can play off schedule and extend some plays with his feet. Him and Kelce just got that crazy chemistry where a lot of times they’re getting a lot of their yards, a lot of their success comes from after that second play starts.”

Meanwhile Stephen A. Smith has called on Kelce to up the ante after a slow start to the season. He said this week: “I love my brother from another mother, Travis Kelce. [But] we saw more Taylor Swift than we saw Travis Kelce yesterday on a Sunday afternoon, and any other time that’s applicable.

“That ain’t supposed to happen yesterday. We supposed to see more Travis Kelce yesterday than we saw her. That’s not happening. You got to get it going, bro. You got 39 receiving yards in the first two games. Come on now, it’s time. Football season is here. Honeymoon’s over. Let’s handle our business.”
