Patrick Mahomes Reveals Promise to Wife After Chiefs Christmas Win

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes revealed the promise he made to his wife Brittany after clinching a first-round bye on Christmas.

The Kansas City Chiefs secured a first-round bye and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs in the AFC after defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers on Christmas Day.

With the Chiefs now locked into the No. 1 seed in the AFC, they’ll likely rest all of their impactful starters in Week 18 to help them recover from injuries and avoid sustaining new ones before the playoffs begin.

Following the win, Patrick Mahomes revealed the promise he made to his wife Brittany before the game.

“I told my wife I was gonna get her the No. 1 seed so we can go have that baby,” said Mahomes. “Hopefully God works the right way and we can have that baby maybe on the bye week somewhere, and then everything will work out perfectly.”

The Mahomes family had announced back in July that they would be welcoming their third child, and it seems that there’s a real chance that the child will be born in the next month before the Chiefs’ first playoff game.

Mahomes has certainly earned the rest in the final week. After sustaining an ankle injury just 11 days before Christmas, he played in two more games, throwing for 580 total yards and scoring five total touchdowns while not committing a single turnover.

Mahomes will now have time to fully recover from the injury as the Chiefs continue their pursuit to become the first team in league history to win three straight Super Bowls.
