NFL fans believe they caught the moment Patrick Mahomes “rigged” a game for the Kansas City Chiefs.

During the Chiefs’ matchup against the Denver Broncos, Mahomes was overheard having a conversation with an official.

Many fans already think that Mahomes and the Chiefs get special treatment from NFL referees, but the latest interaction has sent some into a frenzy.

Very early in the game on Sunday, Mahomes snapped the ball and ran down the sideline before being tackled.

A flag was thrown, and while a false start was being announced, Mahomes could be seen having a conversation with an official.

Sideline microphones picked up that conversation, and the Chiefs quarterback’s pleas were aired out on live TV.

“Can you let me know if he’s close?” he asked.

“Tell me, tell me.”

This moment felt like a smoking gun to many fans, and even CBS analyst Trent Green said on the broadcast that he thought Mahomes was asking officials to let him know when a defender was getting close.

NFL fans went crazy after this moment and took to social media to share their conspiracy theories.

“They are never beating the allegations,” one fan said.

“NFL more scripted than Hollywood,” another fan said.

“Chiefs get every call. The nfl wants them to win,” a third fan said.

“Refs cheating for Chiefs confirmed,” a fourth fan said.

“Rigged league,” a fifth fan said.

While it is fun to yell “rigged” and get mad at officials, Mahomes likely wasn’t looking for a heads-up for an incoming hit.

Former NFL offensive lineman Mitchell Schwartz pointed out on social media that he thinks Mahomes was asking for the officials to let him know if one of his linemen was aligned incorrectly.

This is more common from players to ensure that they don’t get an offsides penalty when the ball is snapped.

“I think the announcers had a wrong read of the ‘can you let me know when he’s close’ comment,” Schwartz posted.

“My best guess is Pat was asking for them to let him know when Jawaan [Taylor] is close to being offsides.

“Don’t think it had anything to do with defenders being close to him.”

Even with a logical explanation, NFL fans will likely stick to their conspiracy theories when it comes to Mahomes’ dominance.
