Undefeated Kansas City Chiefs face more pressure than Buffalo Bills in huge AFC showdown given NFL history

The Chiefs are coming off a jaw-dropping victory

THE Kansas City Chiefs remain the only undefeated team in the NFL – yet Andy Reid’s squad still has more to worry about than the Buffalo Bills ahead of the two team’s big matchup in Week 11.

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs face obstacles that can go against them to not only stay unbeaten but also win a third straight Super Bowl title.

The Chiefs beat the Denver Broncos 16-14 in thrilling fashion thanks to a blocked field goal with time expiring.

It was just one of their seven wins in which have they’ve won by a one-score possession margin.

Kansas City needs eight more wins to have a perfect regular season record, but they will now have their toughest matchup of the season when they head to enemy territory in Buffalo next Sunday.

The Chiefs enter the contest as a 2.5-point underdog, and it’s largely due to the Bills‘ recent dominance.

Josh Allen’s Buffalo squad hasn’t lost a game since losing to the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans in Weeks 4 and 5.

Buffalo also has Kansas City’s number when it comes to the regular season recently.

The Bills have won the last three regular-season matchups.

However, if the Chiefs claim the road victory in Week 10, they will likely be favored in each game for the rest of the campaign.

Kansas City has won 15 consecutive games and, from Week 12 on, they will face three teams over .500 the rest of the way.

The Chiefs are on the right side of history when it comes to playing against the Bills, too, as they’ve won the last three meetings, including a 20-17 in last year’s AFC Divisional Round game.

The current Kansas City team has certainly battled adversity.

They’ve trailed at some point in eight of the contests and injuries have hurt their wide receiver core.

The Chiefs have also been without running back Isiah Pacheco since Week 2 when he suffered a fibula injury.

Mahomes has passed for 300 yards just once this season.

Kansas City also stands as the team with the lowest point differential (+58) for any 9-0 team in league history.

Sunday’s game will be just the five time since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger that two teams with at least eight wins played before Week 11, per ESPN’s Field Yates.

Vegas seems to think the Chiefs are due to lose to the favored Bills, who have a +97-point differential.

It will be a tough battle for the Chiefs, but Mahomes knows that it’s any given Sunday in the NFL.

“It’s a week-to-week league,” Mahomes said after the Week 10 victory.
