Bill Belichick removes Patrick Mahomes from a supposed team captaincy and gives it to his top 'foe'

As the NFL season reaches its midpoint with Week 9 underway, the Kansas City Chiefs remain undefeated at the top of the rankings, while the Carolina Panthers struggle with seven losses. With teams pushing hard to secure playoff spots, legendary coach Bill Belichick shared his picks for a midseason “All-Belichick Team” on the latest episode of his COACH podcast, hosted alongside Matt Patricia and Michael Lombardi.

Inspired by the classic All-Madden Team, Belichick named standout players he believes exemplify top performance this season.

For quarterbacks, Belichick included Lamar Jackson, Jared Goff and Patrick Mahomes but selected Jackson as his offensive captain, impressed by his 115.4 passer rating.

Jackson‘s strong season stats placed him ahead of Mahomes in Belichick‘s eyes, as Mahomes currently holds an 84.9 rating, despite leading an undefeated team.

“I love the choice of Lamar Jackson. He’s got my vote which counts for something,” Belichick said.
